Why I Recommend Cellular Blinds to So Many Customers

Over the years, I’ve fitted all sorts of blinds, shutters and awnings in homes across the area, but one product I find myself recommending more and more is cellular blinds.

A lot of people haven’t heard of them at first, but once I explain how they work and customers see them fitted, they usually love them.

They’re modern, practical and look great in almost any room and probably most importantly these days, they can help make your home more energy efficient too.

What Makes Cellular Blinds Different?

Cellular blinds (sometimes called honeycomb blinds) are designed a bit differently from standard blinds. The fabric is made with little pockets or cells as I know it, that trap air inside — a bit like insulation at your windows.

The honeycomb or cell shape helps to keep rooms warmer in winter and cooler in summer, which can make a real difference, especially in rooms with large windows, conservatories or older properties that lose heat easily.

The BBSA (British Blind and Shutter Association) has shared research showing that certain cellular blinds can significantly reduce heat loss through windows, which is one of the reasons they’ve become so popular recently.

To be honest, a lot of my customers first choose them because they like the look of them, but afterwards they often mention how much more comfortable the room feels.

They’re Not Just Practical — They Look Great Too

One thing I really like about cellular blinds is how versatile they are.

They come in loads of colours, textures and styles, so whether your home is modern, traditional or somewhere in between, there’s usually an option that works beautifully.

You can choose:

  • Soft neutral shades

  • Bold modern colours

  • Light-filtering fabrics

  • Blackout options for bedrooms

  • Different pleat sizes and finishes

They also stack up neatly when opened, so they don’t take over the window like some heavier blinds can.

I’ve fitted them in everything from new-build homes to cottages and conservatories, and they always give a clean, smart finish.

Manual or Motorised — Whatever Suits You Best

Another thing customers love is the choice between manual and motorised operation.

Some people are perfectly happy with a simple manual blind, while others love the convenience of motorised systems — especially for larger windows or hard-to-reach areas.

Motorised cellular blinds are becoming really popular now because they’re:

  • Easy to use

  • Great for smart homes

  • Cleaner looking with fewer cords

  • Ideal for conservatories and bi-fold doors

  • A safer option for homes with children or pets

And if you’ve never had motorised blinds before, most people are surprised by how simple they actually are to use.

A Good Investment for Comfort & Energy Saving

With energy prices still on everyone’s mind, more customers are asking me about products that help improve insulation around the home.

While blinds won’t replace proper insulation, cellular blinds can absolutely help reduce heat loss at the windows and make rooms feel more comfortable all year round.

For me, they’re one of those products that tick a lot of boxes:

  • Stylish

  • Energy efficient

  • Modern looking

  • Practical

  • Available for almost any window

Thinking About Cellular Blinds?

If you’re considering new blinds and want something that looks good while also helping with comfort and energy efficiency, cellular blinds are definitely worth a look.

I’m always happy to talk customers through the different options, fabrics and colours available and help find something that genuinely suits your home and budget — without any pressure.
